Cars, Trains, Running, Sleeping, Swimming

Is it possible the sweetest month of Summer is almost over? Our focus here has been on staying cool and having fun.

Isaac finished his swimming lessons. Here he is in his pool towel, wrapped like a burrito, looking back at the pool. We came, we swam, we conquered.

I was never quite sure how he felt about the experience. The morning of his last lesson, Cliff said to Isaac, "oh boy, you're going to the pool today!" Isaac ran off, then came back with his swimsuit from his bed room and his pool towel. Seems like some things must have made a positive impression.

Isaac now says "car." Cars are very important to Isaac and can mean anything with wheels (except train, because he can say "train" and trains are definitely not cars). Here he is driving TWO trucks at the same time (that's talent).

When we go out for walks in the evenings and let him lead the way, he will often walk to the nearest bus stop, sit on the bench, and watch cars, truck, and especially buses going by.

Isaac has seen mommy wearing ear phones and he is putting them on here... but oops. That's the end that goes in the ipod. Maybe if I listened to the ear phones I could hear what he is thinking. I would probably would hear "car!"

Lately, Isaac's favorite games around the house are playing "sleep" and pulling Cliff's Law books off the shelf and having us all sit quietly and read them. Unfortunately the game sleeping isn't very restful, but its usually pretty fun. Here we are playing both games.

I forget how magical boxes are until I saw Isaac playing with them. Perhaps he was trying to get us to ship him to Grandma and Grandpa?

I managed to finish the Queen's Half Marathon this past Saturday. It was a hot, humid, sweaty affair. The first seven miles were routed along a major highway they shut down for the race, and there was not an inch of shade. Thankfully the rest of the 13 miles was a little bit more scenic as we ran through Mets stadium, Arthur Ash stadium and site of the old World's Fair. It was well organized and there was water/Gatorade stations every mile and as well as medics riding around on golf carts making sure people were OK. And it was fun to do it with friends.
