The Hawaii Trip Pictures

Finally, pictures from Hawaii! Unfortunately, not in chronological order.

We loved the mountain overlooks
Isaac turned into a 'beach baby!'

Mom convinced me to get a beach wrap, and i am glad I did! I don't know how often I'll use it in NYC, but it sure is fun to open my closet every morning and consider putting it on.

Cliff and Isaac enjoyed the kiddie pool at the resort pool for a quick cooling off alternative to the beach.

We spent a nice day at Hanalei Bay--the waves were so gentle.

I kindof also think we deserve a congressional medal of honor for not 1. letting Isaac get sunburned 2. Not getting sunburned ourselves! 3. Making valuable attempts to keep him from pulling off his hat. 4. Not letting him lick his sunscreen soaked arms and legs (or ours).

In the picture with the red sand pile with a wooden post sticking out of it; there is actually a Russian flag on the top of the post. Yep, we found the ruins of the old Russian Fort. Cliff enjoyed poking around and speaking Russian to the ruins.

Below us on the overlook there are Taro fields. So very interesting! Boy did we get to taste Taro. The best thing about it is that it is purple! I wish we had a holiday where we dyed our food purple. I'd just throw a little Taro into stuff.

Isaac and daddy whale watching. And yes! we saw whales!!! one overcast day they were out in force--we saw the full length of one of their tails. It was amazing to see what looked like a murky island moving under the water!

We went to the local Kauai farmers market where a person was selling coconuts. They chopped them open for you and you could say whether you wanted one with a lot of liquid, or one that had a lot of meat. Isaac enjoyed chewing on the meat.

Cooling down with coconuts was a family affair.

We spent some time looking around Honolulu as well.

We walked, and walked, and walked, until Isaac was pooped!!!!
He plopped down here in the guard booths to the Palace.

He is such a funny little munchkin. He truly made the trip less scheduled with his giggles and shenanigans.

The bishop museum in Honolulu had a lot of kid-friendly interactive stuff.

Our rented 'wheels'.

We made a tour of all the WWII sights. When I say "all", me mean it in the Clifford Blair sense of--not one sight left unseen.

Here we are aboard the USS Arizona memorial.

Aboard the USS Missouri where the treaty to end WWII was signed.

We went to the beach and realized the superbowl playoff game with the Vikings was being played. This guy was a super vikings fan! Check out the purple and gold bike, shorts, chair, blanket, radio, etc. I guess we weren't the only sad ones when the Vikings didn't advance.

In front of where my mom and dad lived as missionaries.

The Honolulu Tabernacle. We went to church in the ward where mom and dad served. People had emailed mom and dad and were on the look out for us! They were so welcoming and certainly still love mom and dad.

Isaac munches a banana while putting up his feet after a long day walking around the sights.

The Wikiki beach! Our place in Honolulu was next to it. Its true; it wasn't as nice a beach as the one in Kauai, but we had quality time there and quite enjoyed it.

The polynesian cultural center fire eater!!!!

We so much enjoyed the PCC

We did the Luau. Isaac enjoyed the pulled pork--or is that call Kalua Pig? He couldn't get enough.

Us at church in Honolulu.

The Hawaii temple was closed for renovations, but we checked out the visitors center.

Isaac exploring the different villiages and making friends at the PCC.
The day after we returned, we awoke to big fluffy flakes of snow!!! Perhaps some day in the future Isaac will unearth a memory of one day being on a warm sandy beach with palm trees, and the next day waking up in a concrete urban town with cold snow everywhere. He looks somewhat bewildered in this photo, I think.

My valentines day effort. I wish I had put something there for scale because they were quite large. And yummy.
