Labor Day at Long Beach

We spent Labor Day pretending we were in sunny California. Long Beach is on the Atlantic ocean with white sand, ocean swimming and a two-mile-long boardwalk.

There were some serious riptide to the waves (supposedly related to the hurricane down south) and the lifeguards were only allowing people go in up to their ankles or waists at some points. Looking at the ocean reminded me of miso soup--it must have been the pieces of delicious looking green sea weed and the yellow grain swirling around the surf.

Due to the intelligence of our friends who brought a beach umbrella, we managed to not get uncomfortably sunburned. The highlight of the trip was burying their four year old, Madeline, in the sand up to her neck.

The littlest Blair seems to be cooking nicely, and we are looking forward to every day that brings us closer to his appearance.
